Characteristics and seed viability of mutant from Hoya diversifolia

The objective of this research was to get an information about seed characteristics of mutant from Hoya diversifolia and to get the best media for its germination. The research was conducted at Treub Laboratory, Center for Plant Conservation Bogor Botanic Gardens LIPI. The research was arranged in a Completely Randomized Design with three replications. The treatment consisted of two factors,varieties and germination media. Results showed that the mixture media between sand and cocopeat (1:1) was the best media for increasing percentage of H. diversifolia mutant germination two weeks after planting (83.33 persen). High initial germination one week after planting influenced by varieties. H. diversifolia mutant had a higher germination than its mother stock. However, two weeks after planting, seedling height was influenced by the media. Cocopeat or a mixture media between sand and cocopeat (1 : 1) were the best media for producing the highest seedling.
