Keanekaragaman Anggrek di Cagar Alam Panjalu
Panjalu Nature Reserve is located in West Java. The area is about 16 hectare and the altitude is 731-760 m asl. This forest area is surrounded by a lake namely “Situ Lengkong”, and the location of the forest is in the center of the lake. Orchid inventory was conducted to record the orchid diversity in Panjalu Nature Reserve. It was recorded that there were 13 species occur in this forest, which consist of 11 epiphytic and 2 terrestrial orchids. Goodyera rubicunda was the common terrestrial orchid found on the forest floor. The common epiphyte orchid was Phalaenopsis amabilis and Eria bogoriensis. The beautiful moon orchid P. amabilis has been chosen as one among three Indonesian national flowers and has commercial value as ornamental plant. Other potentiality for future commercial orchids are Rhyncostylis retusa and Renanthera matutina.
