The Effect of Golden-Mouth Turban (Turbo chysostomus, L.) Stocking Density on Their Survival and Growth Under Air Water Lift System
Golden-mouth turban (Turbo chrysostumus, L.) belongs to molluscs that live in group in coral reef boulder ecosystem grown with moss as their food in the intertidal area. Survivorship and growth of the golden-mouth turban focused on different density under air water lift system is rarely conducted. This study was done from January 7th – May 6th, 2015, in the laboratoryto observe the effect of different density on the survivorship and the growth of golden-mouth turban under air lift system. ANOVA revealed non significant different effect of the treatment (p>0.05). This condition reflects that treatments A (5 ind.), B (10 ind.), C (15 ind), and D (20 ind.) applied in 10 liter-culture media did not show significant difference. Never the less, the density of 5 individuals seemed to have the highest monthly growth rate, 1.88mm shell height, 1.18mm mouth opening, and 1.1gr fresh weight, and the highest daily mean food absorption, 91.55 persen. Correlation of shell height and fresh body mass exhibited similar growth pattrern, “allometry minor” (b<3). Jurnal Ilmu dan Teknologi Kelautan Tropis, Vol. 8, No. 1. Hal. 289-297
