Huperzia squarrosa (G. Forster) Trevisan: potensi pemanfaatan, keberadaan di alam dan konservasinya di Kebun Raya Bogor
Huperzia squarrosa (G. Forster) Trevisan is an epiphitic fern of the family Lycopodiaceae with interesting morphological characteristics. The species is potential for ornamental plant but so far little effort has been given to promote its establishment. Meanwhile, the existence of the species in the wild, such as in Lembah Anai, Gunung Sago and Rimbo Panti – West Sumatra and Deleng Lancuk – North Sumatra, has been very limited. The Bogor Botanic Gardens has collected the species since 2003, and now the garden is growing 7 collections originating from North Sumatra, West Sumatra and West Halmahera. Propagation of the species has not yet been undertaken in Bogor Botanic Gardens and effective method for propagating the plant for its conservation and sustainable utilization is still to be developed.
