Karakteristik Endapan Mangaan Kecamatan Ponjong Kabupaten Gunung Kidul Daerah Istimewa Yogyakarta

Sawahan area is located in Gunung Kidul, District Ponjong, Yogyakarta. Lithology areas form tuffaceous breccias and sandstones of the Semilir formation, located on a steep hill slope extends from northwest to northeast, while in the southeast to southwest lithology in the form of limestone Wonosari formations (Surono et al, 1992) with the general appearance of karst hills. The second unit is estimated to be separated by some structure of which begins with the pull (Tension) trending northwest-southeast, followed by compression trending northeast-southwest direction of the main sharpness and generate reverse fault continued with the process of sliding fault. The distribution of manganese ore in the area are Plarung and Sambiredjo, manganese minerals are found in limestone units, spread unevenly trending northeast southwest. Minerals found are pyrolusite (MnO2), mangaanite (Mn2O3H2O), hollandite Ba2 (MnO2)8, and Rhodochrosite (MnCO3) with other minerals such as hematite (Fe2O3), pyrite (FeS), quartz (SiO2) and carbonate (CaO).
