Struktur, Fungsi dan Faktor-faktor yang Mempengaruhi Ekosistem Lamun

Seagrass beds are one of the coastal ecosystems but still has not received more attention such as coral reefs and mangroves. This ecosystem is formed by seagrass vegetation which inte-racts with the various communities of biota and existing abiotic factors. This ecosystem func-tions as a source of nutrients (primary producers and the base of food webs), as a nursery areas, as a habitat for fish, benthic organisms and marine mammals, as well as having a great influence both on erosion and sedimentation. Environmental factors affecting this eco-system are including depth, desiccation, turbidity, current agitation, sediment thickness, sub-strate grain size, humus contents, light, temperature, season, complexity of the vegetation and the interaction between the biotas.
