The Survival And Growth Rate Of Holothuria Scabra Larvae (Auricularia) Cultured At Different Salinities Lombok West Nusa Tenggara

Terbatas

The production of sea cucumber, Holothuria scabra to address the decreasing wild stock population has been conducted in West Nusa Tenggara, Indonesia. This area was reported experiencing wild stock depletion caused by over exploitation. While land-based nursery tanks have been successfully applied to grow H. scabra, information about the most suitable physical condition for the growth of early larval stage (auricularia) in Indonesia is lacking. Research investigating the effect of salinity on H. scabra’s larvae rearing was done in Mataram Bio Industry Technical Implementation Unit-LIPI, West Nusa Tenggara in 2013. The Larvae were reared for 13 days at salinities of 22, 26, 30 and 34 ppt. The water salinity of 34 ppt was the most suitable condition for larvae rearing during the study which had the highest survival by 25.6 persen and growth rate by 762 ± 72 μm of body length average.
