Inventarisasi Keragaman Anggrek di Kawasan Suaka Margasatwa Barumun Sumatera Utara
Barumun Wildlife Sanctuary is located in North Sumatra Province, covers a 40.330 hectare area. Orchid Inventory and exploration was conducted to study the orchid diversity in Barumun Wildlife Sanctuary. It was recorded that 60 species (in 31 genera) of orchid still can be found in that area. They consist of 51 epiphytic orchids species and 9 terrestrial orchids. They grow in altitude 400-700 a.s.1. There are 3 species were noted as a new record in Sumatra, that are Cleisostoma complicatum, Eria cepifolia, Maleola baliensis and Saccolabiopsis bakhuisenii. And only one species (Eria rubifera) which is endemic to Sumatra. In the other hand, it was found 2 species of saprophytic orchid that are Erythrorchis ochobiensis and Erythrorchis cf. altissima which growing on the rotten log. The common terrestrial orchids were Calanthe triplicata, Plocoglottis javanica, Claderia viridiflora, Liparis wrayi and Neuwiedia zollingeri var. javanica. The other species which also dominant were Dendrobium truncatum, Cleisostoma complicatum, Eria cepifolia and Vanilla sp. Some species such as Cymbidium atropurpureum, Coelogyne rochussenii, C. asperata have showy flowers and Macodes petola has beautiful leaves. Thecostele alata, Acriopsis liliifolia and Erythrorchis cf. altissima can be found in 3 observation locations, while other species only found in 1 or 2 locations. Ekologia, Vol. 10 No. 1, April 2010.
