Keanekaragaman Anggrek di Kawasan Sungai Busang, Kalimantan Tengah
Orchid inventory and exploration was conducted to study the orchid diversity along Busang River. This river is located in a remote area at the slope of Muller Montains in Central Kalimantan. It was recorded that at least 75 orchid species (in 28 genera) occured in that area. They consist of 69 epiphytic orchids species and 5 terrestrial orchids, growing on the altitude of 215-280 a.s.l The most common epiphytic orchids were Coelogyne asperata, Dendrobium hosei, D. Salaccense, Grammatophyllum speciosum and Eria jenseniana. Those orchids mostly grew epiphytically on trees of Dipterocarpus elongatus, Saraca declinata, Baccaurea bracteata, Sandoricum borneense and Syzygium sp. Terrestrial orchids were rarely found along the river side, and only 3 species were found, i.e Claderia viridiflora, Tropidia curculigoides and Plocoglottis sp. However, some other terrestrial orchids were found abundently in the open area not far from the river, such as Arundina graminifolia, Bromheadia finlaysoniana and Spathoglottis plicata. Bulbophyllum rafractilingue which is endemic orchids of Borneo was also found in the area. This exploration also found a new record in which Bulbophyllum binnendijkii is so far known as an endemic orchid of Java, was also found along Busang river in Central Kalimantan.
