Nematosit Karang Scleractinia, Pocillopora eydouxi

The aims of this research were to know the type, composition, and nematocysts dimension of Scleractinian Coral, Pocillopora eydouxi. Pocillopora eydouxi that used on this study was collected from Malalayang Beach, Manado. There were two main types of nematocysts found on Pocillopora eydouxi, i.e., holotrichous isorhizas (HI) and microbasic p-mastigophore (MpM). The nematocysts composition showed that HI more abundant than MpM. HI type had capsule length 63,38 ± 11,36 μm (mean ± SD) and capsule width 19,25 ± 4,60 μm (mean ± SD), while MpM had capsule length 27,05 ± 3,68 μm (mean ± SD), capsule width 7,05 ± 1,88 μm (mean ± SD) and shaft length 19,59 ± 4,67 μm (mean ± SD). The results concluded that Pocillopora eydouxi had two major nematocysts, i.e., HI and MpM, therefore, could be recommended to take more advanced study about typically role of both nematocysts type respectively.
