Potensi Baccaurea spp. : studi kasus di Kebun Raya Bogor
The genus of Baccaurea comprise of 80 species which distributes in Asia and Pacific. The fruit of some species in the genus has the potency as fresh fruit. The aim of this research was to again the information of Baccaurea's potency as consumed fruit and other benefit. In this research, the tree and fruit morphology characteristics have been elaborated on some Baccaurea species collected in Bogor Botanic Garden and study of literature has been done. Measurements were conducted on fruit weight, fruit diameter, fruit length, fruit exocarp weight, fruit exocarp thickness, arillode thickness, arillode weight, number of seeds, seed weight, seed diameter, seed length, Soluble Solids Content (SSC), and percentage of arillode, exocarp, and seed weight. Based on the references, Baccaurea also could be used as building material, traditional medicine, dye, and shade tree. Based on the observation result, the fruits of Baccaurea were vary in appearance and taste, even in the same species. The fruits of B. reticulata and B. macrocarpa were the largest in size and sigificantly different from other species, while B. racemosa had the smallest fruits size and also sigificantly different from other species. Fruits of B. reticulata was the sweetest among the others species. Fruits of B. dulcis (VIII.E.2a) significantly different from three other B. dulcis in few parameters such as fruit weight, fruit diameter, fruit length, fruit exocarp weight, arillode thickness, seed weight, seed diameter, and seed length.
