Komposisi, Sebaran, dan Karakteristik Lamun di Pesisir Pulau Ambalau
Seagrasses are flowering plants growing in shallow waters and forming productive ecosystem that plays important roles for many marine life. The diversity of seagrass is low but it may has vast area along the coasts. As a country with many islands, Indonesia has very long coastline, but the research on seagrasses was still insufficient. In October 2008 a research on seagrasses composition and their distribution has been done on Ambalau Island’s coast, in order to get more informations of seagrasses in Indonesia. In eight research stations, samples were colected using free collection and line transect quadrat. Morphological characteristics each species were observed. Along the line transect, (each) species distribution was measured from the high tide mark toward the sea. Six species were identified: Halodule pinifolia, Halodule uninervis, Cymodocea rotundata, Thalassia hemprichii, Halophila ovalis, and Syringodium isoetifolium. Each species was unevenly distributed in all research stations and has its own characteristic. Biosainstifika, Vol. 2 No.1 November 2009. Hlm: 12-23 ISSN: 1979-6900
