Urgensi Pengelolaan Kawasan Pesisir Teluk Ambon Ditinjau Dari Aspek Sumberdaya Meroplankton

Terbatas

Ambon Bay coastal region has the potential of fisheries resources and some of marine biota spawns in this area. Recently, fishery resources in Ambon bay have been decline. This is probably related to the ecological pressure of anthropogenic activities. The increasing number of settlements in around of Ambon Bay reduces of forest area. Sedimentation rate increased in Ambon Bay which causes damage to ecosystems. Reduce of carrying capacity of Ambon Bay to support fisheries resources such as fish, shrimp, crabs and shellfish need to be managed. The research objective is to examine the management of the coastal areas of Ambon Bay in terms of aspects meroplankton. The research was conducted during 6 months (May-July 2007 and May-July 2008) using primary and secondary data. Primary data include of meroplankton and water quality data. Secondary data includes the data of sedimentation, area of mangrove forest, fishery resources. Sampling of meroplankton was used by NORPAC nets vertically at 17 stations. Research results showed that composition of meroplankton are 13 species. The highest abundance of meroplankton is occurred in the inner of Ambon Bay. Sedimentation has occurred in Ambon Bay. Sedimentation in Ambon Bay potentially influencing the composition and abundance of meroplankton, and need to be manage.
